Bajan Star Ready For The World. Gifted. Versatile. Energetic. Sexy. Ready. Those words can easily summarize Kirk Brown, a performer who is ready to take the world by storm.
Born in Barbados on February 19th to Bajan and Jamaican Parents.Kirk grew up in an area of Barbados called Brittons Hill. He always longed to become a performer, even from his early days. He drew inspiration from many genres of music including but not limited to Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae and R & B. His favourite Hip Hop Artists were The Notorious B.I.G, Naz, 2Pac, Jay-Z, Wu Tang, Tribe Called Quest, EPMD, just to name a few. That, coupled with being from the Caribbean and having
a heavy Reggae/Dancehall influence from Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks, Tiger, Shaggy, more recently Mr. Sean Paul and many other top Dancehall Artists (or as they are called in Jamaica, Dee Jays) Also from the pioneers like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Third World, Aswad and Jimmy Cliff who were foundation builders in the Caribbean. “Music was always my first love and to be an Entertainer my dream.”
Despite his love and natural talent for music Kirk was forced to make a choice between singing for the sheer love of it and paying the bills. His passion never wavered however and whether out of sheer luck, or perhaps destiny, he was asked to audition for a place in the fresh, young band 'Blaze', just 2 summers ago. Of couse he did not disappoint. Kirk impressed with his ability to cover Dancehall, Reggae and Hip-Hop. After a short stint with 'Blaze' he went on to join the Toni Norville Band and with them opened for such international artists as Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Barrington Levy and Beres Hammond.
Possessing great ambition and drive along with his musical talent, Kirk seized a unique opportunity to start a band the likes of which Barbados had yet to see. This led to the formation of Strategy, which to this date remains the biggest weekly drawing card of any band to be found on the island. Just 1 year after it’s launch Strategy was nominated for Band of The Year at the 2006 Barbados Music Awards Under Kirk’s leadership and strong business practices, the band spread its wings far beyond the confines of The Ship Inn and the Boatyard, where hundreds of patrons flock weekly hoping to get the chance to see the sexy leading man in action, alongside Tejay, the band’s female lead, and Junior Monarch runner-up Miguel White. Now already an established performer in Barbados, Kirk’s ability has enabled him to work with the who’s who in local, regional and international music, and establish himself as a prime prospect for the future. This aspiring Singer/Actor/Model will be launching several singles to the North American and Caribbean markets in 2006, as the most recent chapter in a life which has revolved around the stage.
Through his various associations with bands and his personal appearances, he has been able to co-headline events with major international stars Fat Joe, Dru Hill, Terror Squad, Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Kirk Davis, Kiprich, Dougie Fresh, Ashanti & Ja Rule, Dougie Fresh, Benzino, Barrington Levy, Beres Hammond, Kevin Lyttle, Iwer George, Edwin Yearwood & Krosfyah, Rupee & the Dot Com Band, Allison Hinds, L’il G (Silk & Madea), Julissa of 106 & Park, Mad Cobra, Rayvon, 4 D People, Toni Norville Project, Blaze
As a direct result of his obvious sex appeal, this handsome, rugged West Indian man has been featured as the face of campaigns for major companies such as telecommunications giants Digicel and Cable and Wireless. He also hosted Cargo 2002, Miss Barbados Universe 2003 and co-hosted the 2006 Hip-Hop Festival with Julissa Bermudez of BET 106 & Park fame. He has also performed outside of Barbados, making appearances in Jamaica, St. Lucia, Canada, Trinidad, Boston, Connecticut and most recently New York, as part of the massive BK Fashion Weekend.
